Watching Remote Baseball Games Live Before Television (Really!)
The first U.S. baseball game to be televised was played in 1939; in Japan, one was televised in 1931, and a Bell Labs engineer proposed putting baseball on TV in 1928. But, starting in 1884, long before television, fans across the U.S. and Canada were able to watch live remote baseball games. Learn about the amazing technology involved.
What I Think I Saw at NAB
The annual NAB convention in Las Vegas is the world’s largest professional equipment exhibition. Mark has attended every year since 1973, swings past every booth, and sometimes finds what no one else does. He promises to share what he remembers.
Multiple-Emmy-award-winning SMPTE Fellow Mark Schubin has been working professionally in television since 1967 and writing about it since 1972. His blog, SchubinCafe.com, is archived by the Library of Congress.
